Documenting the Unblogged: Four Makes from 2023

Bonjour! It’s been a minute since my blog saw some action, and I’ve been tardy in sharing my memades. Balancing family and work has been a juggling act, and I’m not exactly a circus-level juggler. But hey, better late than never, right? So, here are a few of my 2023 makes that I’m excited about:

Thrifty Zero Waste Cropped Shirt:

The Zero Waste Cropped Shirt by Birgitta Helmersson is all about reducing/minimizing waste. I transformed a vintage tablecloth, snagged from a Milwaukee thrift store years ago, into my version of this eco-friendly sewing pattern. Paired with By hand London’s Holly trousers , I loved how it turned out.

Sun’s Out, Co-ord’s Out:

Made a yellow co-ord set with some vintage Bloomcraft upholstery fabric that screams sunshine. Love the Ike jacket style of the Cropped Jacket by The Assembly Line. No modification – just went with size XS, unlined, and that’s it. Here paired with a self-drafted mini skirt.

Linen Co-ord:

Scored some gorgeous linen during a recent France trip and turned it into a geo co-ord set. Pants are Persephone by Anna Allen in size 2 with a modified crotch, and the top is Uzma by Fibre Mood in size XS, both shortened a bit. Obsessed with the cheerful linen, this ensemble is a tribute to my love for colourful prints.

Last-Minute Taika Dress:

Finished sewing the buttonholes on my Taika dress by Named literally minutes before catching my flight to my friend’s wedding in Madison. The weekend was a blast, and the dress was gorgeous. Went for a size 2 and skipped the sleeve gathering for a comfier fit around the arms. This stunning viscose crepe Églantine & Zoé wrinkles quite a bit, but it drapes beautifully.

Note to myself: To not make it a habit of ghosting this sewing blog!

Wishing you all love, peace, and good health in the new year. And I hope you find a smidgen of time to sneak in some sewing fun!
